HERBERT "Harry" Whiston, the former head of mathematics at Foxhills Secondary School (now Outwood Academy Foxhills) has died at the age of 88.Father-of-two Mr Whiston joined the Foxhills staff as woodwork teacher in 1951 when the school first opened.But when he took early retirement in 1983 he was the head of mathematics.His daughter Helen recalled: "He enjoyed keeping pupils on their toes with his 20 mental lesson starters which began as soon as the first child walked through...
